Philip McManus

Philip McManus is an attorney at Allen Norton & Blue’s Miami Office, where he represents both public and private sector employers in all facets of labor and employment law. Before joining the firm, Philip worked as an Investigator for the Department of Labor. His experience also includes roles as a Federal Air Marshal and Immigration Agent with the Department of Homeland Security. A former U.S. Marine, Philip proudly served from 2001 to 2005.

Philip’s practice includes defending employers confronted with lawsuits, government investigations, administrative charges, discrimination claims, union-related issues, and internal complaints. He has represented clients in federal and state court, arbitration forums, and before administrative agencies including the Department of Labor, Florida Commission on Human Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, National Labor Relations Board, Department of Business & Professional Regulation, and the Public Employees Relations Commission.

Philip devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing the legal interests of agricultural employers, and their unique employment law compliance issues under federal, state, and local law. This includes compliance with the federal temporary guest worker programs.

In addition, Philip regularly counsels and trains clients to avoid and better position themselves to defend against future lawsuits, including consulting with clients on internal investigation procedures, accommodation issues, wage and hour compliance, immigration matters, and handbook and policy drafting.

Philip earned his Juris Doctor from Florida International University’s College of Law, where he made the dean’s list and earned book awards in contracts and conflict of laws. He received his bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in Philosophy from the State University of New York, College at Oneonta.
