Maria Alfaro

Maria Alfaro is an Associate Attorney at the Miami office of Allen Norton & Blue. She represents public and private sector employers across diverse areas of employment and labor law. Maria has successfully advocated for clients in state, federal, and appellate courts, as well as in arbitration forums and before state and federal administrative agencies.

Before joining Allen Norton & Blue, Maria served as a Human Resources Manager, overseeing a broad spectrum of employment matters. Her responsibilities encompassed recruitment, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, disciplinary procedures, EEOC matters, Workers' Compensation, and FMLA issues.

Maria received her Juris Doctor, Cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law and her bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management and Pre-Law, Magna cum laude, from Florida International University.

While in law school, Maria participated in her school’s Pro Bono Challenge, focusing on immigration matters. She further contributed to the legal community by joining the University of Miami Law School Human Rights Clinic. Maria gained valuable practical experience through internships with the Honorable Judge Peter R. Lopez in the Eleventh Circuit Court, the State Attorney’s Office for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit, and by working in insurance defense litigation.

Maria's academic achievements were recognized with a CALI award, acknowledging the highest grade in her class for Florida Constitutional Law. She also received a Dean’s Certificate of Achievement Award for her exceptional performance in the Human Rights Clinic.

Maria, a native Spanish speaker with a diverse residency across South and Central America, has cultivated a rich multicultural background. Her linguistic proficiency and cultural insights uniquely equip her to assist diverse clients and to analyze a wide variety of legal challenges.
